During yesterday's plenary session, the Municipality of Teulada suspended the regulations and the protocol of the fiestas of the patron saints' and folk festivities of the Municipality of Teulada. The government's proposal was accepted by the municipal councils and the political groups abstained.
Aitor Llobell, the local councillor in charge of festivities, explained to the plenary the need to repeal the protocol. A festive council is appointed and a forum will allow the "Festeros" and the local council to collaborate and produce a new document. It shall be a handbook that adapts to today's social reality as well as the festive tradition of the community.
"Today's regulations were outdated and we decided to suspend them. Now they are being revised and adapted to today's social life and the requirements for festive occasions. It was never our intention to change the current role of our festivities. We believe that it is important to create a dialogue to listen to different opinions and to develop a handbook that will help the future committees to organise the festivities," commented Aitor Llobell, Councillor for Festivities.
