TEULADA WELCOMES THE 36th EDITION OF THE ?FIESTA DEL MOSCATEL?

The president of ACAT, Mila Bisquert, and the councillor for culture, Alejandro Llobell, presented the programme of the traditional Muscatel Fiesta. A traditional celebration with a mix of culture, agriculture and festiveness.

Mila Bisquert started the presentation saying: ‘For 36 years the Muscatel Fiesta represents tradition and the identity of our village’. The programme will start on August 27 with the photography exhibition ‘Illusions of Muscatel Teulada V’.

The event which stands out is the celebration of the ‘4th Muscatel Short Film Festival’ on August 28, 29 and 30. The novelty, it will take place at the Auditorio Teulada Moraira. The president of ACAT mentioned the high quality of the festival as in the past short films showed during the festival have been nominated with the Goya award or have received other prestigious awards.

The highlight of the event is Saturday the 31st with a full festival day. Various ceremonial acts, such as the ‘Muscatel Experiences’ consisting of a multitude of associations marching from the ‘Cooperativa’ to the Riurau of the Bancal Roig where they will enjoy a fraternity lunch and the performance of the dancing chorus Font Santa.

The Muscatel Parade will pass through the municipality accompanied by the Colla el Falçó in the afternoon and will end at the Glorieta of the Ermita San Vicente Ferrer, venue where the traditional grape contest will be held. The day ends with a performance of the band ‘People Band’. At the end of the programme presentation Mila thanked all the collaborating municipal associations: Colla el Falçó, dancing chorus Font Santa and Carreteros Alejandro Morell amongst others.

The councillor for culture thanked ACAT and the municipal associations for the effort they put in the organisation of the Muscatel Fiesta, thus making the event possible. Alejandro talked about the historic importance of the Muscatel: ‘the Marina Alta vines are not just part of our agriculture but are also part of our regional culture and its idiosyncrasy’.

At the end of the presentation they invited all residents and visitors to participate in the ceremonial acts the programme offers and to enjoy our agriculture and its products.
