The "Unidad de Prevención Comunitaria de Conductas Adictivas (UPCCA)" is part of Teulada Moraira's Youth Department. Yesterday they organised a round table discussion as part of their prevention campaign on tobacco abuse among young people. Forty families from the village took part in this virtual meeting, which serves as a prevention tool. Among other things, the participants learned that the effects of tobacco abuse in Spain cost the lives of 50,000 people a year.
On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, which will take place on May 31, as every year, the Youth Department started its campaign, which includes a round table discussion. Participants were: Aitor Llobell, Youth Councillor, Monica Cortés, Youth Affairs Officer for the municipality of Teulada Moraira, and Belén Sarrión, a UPCCA psychologist specialising in addiction problems. The meeting aimed to refute myths about tobacco use, explain the different stages of addiction and inform about how to help young people stop smoking.
The UPCCA is available to the public for advice and assistance on addiction prevention for young people. Any family can contact the local council at the following e-mail address: email@example.com.
