The Municipality of Teulada Moraira supports the local business with € 564.235. During the last ordinary plenary session of April 30, they unanimously approved the plan "ReActiva Teulada Moraira" and, the above measure is part of it. It is a project with 24 proposals to alleviate the effects of the health crisis caused by COVID-19. It concerns public health and, also is of social and economic nature.
At the next plenary session, we will present a document containing the basic guidelines for obtaining direct aid for self-employed persons and small and medium-sized businesses. This aid totals in € 200.000. Each company will receive approximately € 1.000 and € 1.200, depending on the number of employees.
Another proposal we will present at the next meeting is the abolition of the municipal tax for occupying public space. The loss of this tax revenue amounts to € 265.000. As of today, Monday, interested parties can apply for additional open space they can occupy during Stage 1 of the de-escalation and the return to the new normal.
As far as economic measures are concerned, we plan a campaign for a more dynamic economy. The intension is to consolidate local consumption and, a budget of € 85,000 is set aside for this purpose. This campaign will have a direct impact on restaurants and the local retail sector.
We want to give local businesses a broader business platform and will invest € 4,235 in the creation of a website. The project will modernise the image and, Social Media will help to spread the message to a broader clientele, thus giving business owners the opportunity for expansion.
Besides, the public company TEUMO Serveis will intensify the cleaning and disinfection of public spaces used by local businesses as well as the adjacent areas.
"During this extraordinary situation, no resident should suffer unnecessarily. Since the beginning, this is the members' of the government and the Local Council's priority. The department for welfare services has done a great job and assisted all families in need. Now is the time to think about the economic future of Teulada Moraira. We must give businesspeople the help they need to get back to work. We will stand by them with what they need. We will form working groups with all the bodies. We will listen now and, in the future and we will work on solutions based on their proposals," said Mayor Rosa Vila Vallés.
The Local Councillor for Trade, Adrián Ruiz, underlined the statement with the following comment: "We have a business environment that requires direct aid. We are aware of the extent of the problem and, we know that only together can we get out of this situation. The aid package that we will present to the May plenary session intends to provide funds for businesses to reopen. They shall be part of a project that focuses on the solidarity, strength and, growth of local trade. The Local Council at its resident's side and will do everything possible to alleviate the COVID-19 crisis. We live in a time of great uncertainty, but we will not lose hope. Teulada Moraira and his people will get through this together."
